Mission Control Center

Purpose

Handling and logging of all communication with the satellite through a distributed server client sheme. The main features of the Mission Control Center are a user interface for sending commands and receiving data, a common interface for the two groundstations in aalborg and svalsat, handle data storage. All communication both up and downlink is stored in a database. The MCC has been developed for SSETI Express. Below is shown an overview of the MCC system.

Operator Interface:
The operator inter face is a single-user GUI implemented in java.

Access Control - Handles user login/logout. Only one user is allowed to login simultaneously.

Direct Control - Choose commands from a drop-drop menu, these are sent directly.

Pre Flight Plan - Sceduling of commands issued at the beginning of every transaction.

Fligth Plan - Sceduling of commands issued once in every transaction.

Post Flight Plan - Sceduling of commands issued repeatedly after "Flight Plan" is done.

TC Definition - Used to save legal commands for each subsystem (format, description and mnemonic).

TM Definition - Definition of telemetry data format.

TM/TC History - Displays all communication sequentially: alarms, error-messages, commands etc.

Settings - Change the settings for the MCC.

Sat Info - Displays latest nominal beacon data.

Status

November 20, 2005: The final implementations were done to the SSETI MCC. The MCC seems to function as a stable system.

To Do

1. Find time to port the MCC to the AAUSAT-II space link protocol.

2. Port the software.

Pictures and Goodies

In February 2005 Martin Green went to Svalbard (Norway) to set up the ground station at K-Sat. He brougth home with him these astonishing video-clips ;-)
